Pressing Issues in Our Regulatory Environment

Sunday, June 15
1:30 to 2:50 p.m.

Charities operate in a complex regulatory environment and the expectations of regulators and the public are increasing. Current issues facing the sector include: recently introduced changes to the Income Tax Act and CCRA’s administrative policies, challenges in endowment building – balancing saving and spending having regard to donor wishes, the charity’s short- and long-term needs for program and operating funds, prudent investing, the current investment environment, income tax and other regulatory requirements .

The involvement / partnership of both finance and fundraising personnel is key to the successful resolution of these issues by your organization. Jill will provide an overview of some of the current issues facing the sector and will lead the group in an interactive discussion of these topics. A thoughtful discussion of current issues may point to the need for further changes to legislation and/or administrative policy. You will leave the session with important knowledge to share with your organization.
