Opening Plenary Session Keynote Speaker
JOHN H. TORY, Q.C., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Cable Inc.

John Tory will speak at the Opening Plenary Session on Sunday, June 15.

One of Canada’s pre-eminent volunteer fundraisers and winner of the 2001 Association for Fundraising Professional’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, Mr. Tory will discuss his personal views on how to make the most effective use of fundraising volunteers. He will also share tips and the latest trends to help recruit and keep the best volunteers in an organization.

Mr. Tory is involved with many charitable and community organizations. He chaired the 2001 United Way Campaign of Greater Toronto that raised a then record $75.5 million. He is presently Co-Chair of a $50 million
fundraising campaign for St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Mr. Cressy will be the luncheon speaker on Monday, June 16. He will speak on Dreaming and Doing by exploring how grand dreams can excite and create momentum for staff, volunteers and donors.

Mr. Cressy was previously the chief fundraiser for Ryerson University. Imaginative fundraising has been Mr. Cressy’s trademark throughout his career, from his work as President of the United Way in the early 1980s to leading the University of Toronto’s Breakthrough Campaign to more than $125 million in donations in the 1990s.
