AHP — Primer
Saturday, June 14, 2003 starting with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and the workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hennepin Ballroom.

This fast-paced, intensive workshop will focus on: the importance of philanthropy and the role of development. Featured topics include: major, planned and annual giving, capital campaigns, policies, finance, marketing and much more. Attendees receive a comprehensive AHP Primer Manual with “how to” examples. This book is a valuable reference tool for every development office.

The faculty includes AHP’s experts in the health care development profession. This session is Highly Recommended for newcomers, support staff, board members, CEOs, volunteers and development professionals new to health care. The program fee includes the full-day workshop, AHP Primer Manual, continental breakfast, breaks and lunch.

AHP — Train the Trainer

Saturday, June 14, 2003 starting with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and the workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Learn the ins and outs of preparing and presenting great educational sessions. AHP Canada is offering the Train the Trainer workshop based on methods taught by MICA Management Resources, an industry leader for the past 20 years in state of the art management education programs. It’s a recipe for presenting an effective workshop or training session.

Employing the principles of adult education, your workshop facilitators will cover topics like the principles of adult education, roles of facilitators, setting goals for the workshops you lead, undertaking needs assessments, evaluation and assessment tools and creating or fine-tuning your workshop “flow”. All participants will receive a Train the Trainer binder, complete with seminar material and supplementary references.

Enrollment is limited. Participants must be pre-registered for this full day, pre-conference session. The fee includes the full-day workshop, AHP Train the Trainer Manual, continental breakfast, breaks and lunch.

HCPRA — Annual General Meeting
Saturday, June 14, 2003 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Canadiana Room.

Join us for a review of the accomplishments of the past year, and hear about plans for the coming 12 months. This networking session provides an opportunity to meet other HCPRA members from across the country as the conference begins. The new HCPRA Executive will be elected at this meeting.


HCPRA — PR Spa
Saturday, June 14, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Canadiana Room.

It’s an afternoon designed to pamper you and your career at the same time! Spend some time with other communicators and fundraisers talking about the work you do and the reasons you do it. We want you to walk away replenished and inspired! And we’ll even throw in a goodie bag to help relax and refresh you!

To get things started, Karen Martin, a local yoga instructor, will teach us how to relax and breathe — perfect advice for those days in the office when things are going crazy!

Then Wendy Johnson, Director of Community Relations and Communications at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, will share the top 10 tips for keeping your day on track, despite the many demands on your time. Learn how to take charge of your day.

We’ll end the afternoon with Dick O’Brien, a therapist and trainer guaranteed to provide a humorous and uplifting session full of practical advice about “The Journey of Life”. Dick has been delighting audiences for 25 years and will help each of us discover our own personal resiliency and sense of humour in today’s demanding health care environment. It’s a perfect way to kick off the conference and kick-start your road to a more balanced lifestyle! Please note there is an additional charge for the PR Spa.
